external hard drive not recognized

I am trying to hook up a Toshiba 3tb external drive to a Xbox 360 slim, now I have formatted it to FAT32, and/or eXFAT, and it still doesn't recognize.

All I get is the configure options greyed out so I cannot select them, and it will not come up in the media players as 'portable hard drive'

Could this just be an unsupported brand or is there something else wrong?

Please help!

Are you trying to use a portion of the external HDD for game saves? If so, that isn't possible if I recall correctly, it can only be done with flash drives up to 16GB or 32GB, I don't remember for sure though.

It may be taking the 360 a while to read the whole drive, 3TB's is quite a bit amount of storage, so maybe it's loading the thing up? I had no problem connecting my 500GB My Book HDD to my 360, had no problems doing so. But 3TB may be a little too big, possibly.

Hello there, there is only support up to 2 TB, the 3 TB would not work on either 360 E/S or XB1.
