Thunderbaws and SecluedRogue 29, these are Account problems which belong in Forum 03, forums.xbox.com/.../12.aspx  -

That being said, sounds like the local profile is out of date or corrupted, and when an app or routine asks for data from it, it causes the involuntary disconnection or failure. I'd start by clearing the system cache (it's just temporary files plus game updates, automatically reloaded) by:

1) Tap the silver Xbox Guide button on the controller, go 2 clicks right to Settings, pick System Settings.

2) Select Storage (or Memory if Storage).

3) Move over any hard drive or memory unit (not the Cloud) & press (Y) on your controller & pick Clear System Cache.

4) When asked to confirm storage device maintenance, choose Yes.

Delete profile from your console

1) go to http://xbox.com/accounts & click on Sign in at upper right - if you can't sign in then ** STOP: DON'T ** delete your profile. Please call Xbox Support http://tinyurl.com/XBLnumbers Option 2 for help with your account. If you can sign in, delete & redownload your profile on your Xbox this way:

2) Go to Settings - pick System - choose Storage - pick All Devices - choose Gamer Profiles

3) pick the gamertag choose Delete, and pick Delete Profile Only.

This deletes the profile but leaves saved games and achievements. Now, re-download your profile.

Re-download

1) Tap the silver Xbox Guide button

2) Select Download Profile (and if you don't see it, press the blue X button to make sure you're not signed in) and proceed with Profile Download.

3) Enter the Microsoft Account addresse for your Xbox LIVE gamertag when asked.

4) Enter the password for the Microsoft Account.

4A) If your account is an Xbox LIVE child account, the parent’s Windows Live ID & password is required as well to download your profile.

5) Pick the storage device for your profile (choose Hard Drive if you have one, or Memory Unit if you don't have a Hard Drive).

6) When the download completes you will be asked if you want the console to remember your password. If it's your home console, I'd say yes, otherwise I'd think carefully about leaving my profile unprotected on somebody else's Xbox!

7) Sign in, and retry.

Ive always been a gold member but as i was busy i let mine run out a few weeks. I upgraded about 30 minutes plus ago and it shows im gold but still cod wont let me play.  I have signed out and in 3 times restarted the game twice and console once as well as just leaving it be most of the time.

Hopefully itll just take some time but Id have thought a few minutes and a sign out and in would be enough? It has been in the past.

Silver accounts are pretty much useless if you want to play online. They do give you a Live account, but different features are not included. If you want to get Live, you can buy a code for a certain amount of time. Here's your options:

Gold – 12 Month $59.99($5.00 per month)

Gold – 3 Month $24.99($8.33 per month)

Gold – 1 Month $9.99

Go to My Account on the top right, under the section that says Xbox Live, click on Upgrade/Manage and you can get your options there.

Not to mention, specific games will include a Gold trial that'll last for a certain amount of time, mainly two days. See if you have any games with a card that says this.

Also, check out Wumbo's link. Specifically this one:

www.xbox.com/.../gold

Thank you.

I have the same issue, except it happens when I try to play MW3 online with my son.  We both have gold accounts.  We can play separately, but when we try to play together, it tells us that one account isn't allowed.  I would just like to point that out one more time....WE CAN PLAY SEPERATLY, so I know the privacy settings aren't an issue.

Hey there Kovacc!  That's very weird indeed.  Are you trying to play from consoles inside the same house?  Please try playing a different online game together, and make a fresh thread letting us know how it goes.  Trying another game will help us determine if it's a game issue, an account issue, or a network issue.
