Error Status Code: 8015D080

I've been getting error status code: 8015D080 when trying to change my Windows Live ID for one of my Gamertags on XBL. The Gamertag was made with a Window Live ID that I had deleted due complications it was giving me. I'm able to use the Gamertag to go online and play games with, but apart for that, I can't sign-in anywhere with it. Is there any way I can get a new Window Live ID attached to it?

If only that was the case. I did not lose my email that was attached to the Windows Live ID/Account, I've lost/deleted the Windows Live ID/Account as a whole. This is resulting in error status code: 8015D080 because the Gamertag is no longer linked to an active Windows Live ID/Account. My question is as to whether I can attach a new email/Windows Live ID to the Gamertag.

You can't change an email address on an account if you can't access the other email address. To change email address on the account, it requires you to enter your details for the old account.

I recommend you talk to an official Xbox/Microsoft support agent and maybe they can help you and tell you the correct procedure.

I was hoping the last thing I'd have to do was make a phone call and talk to a Microsoft support representative considering past experiences with a company's support. What I don't understand is if I am able to access and use the Gamertag in question on my Xbox, why I can't change the Windows Live ID to an active one. It should give me a message stating that "the Windows Live ID attached to the Gamertag is no longer in use and must be replaced with a proper one to continue use of this Gamertag".

Problem solved. Xbox is now saying that the existing Windows Live ID is invalid and having me replace it with a valid one. Thank you to everyone who gave their input in attempt to help me solve my problem.

I was wondering how you managed to get your Xbox to prompt you to change your email address for a valid one. I have the exact same problem as you did but I am unable to get my Xbox to recognise that the email is invalid due to it being deleted.
