Error code E68. Have I lost everything?

Hi, Im having a serious problem with my Xbox slim hard drive. Im getting an E68 error code when I switch on my console. The console works fine without the hard drive and Ive tried all the troubleshooting options including using a transfer cable as suggested by an Xbox customer support agent. Nothing is working and at this stage and Im extremely worried that Ive lost almost seven years of game saves. I know all my achievements and downloaded content are safe as I can download them again but I dont want to lose thousands of hours of game save data. The customer support agent told me that because I purchased my hard drive separate from my console I only have a 90 day warranty. This cant be true can it? I spend 100 Euro on a piece of electronic hardware and I only get 90 days. That seems ridiculous. The hard drive is only 8 months old and from what the agent said I have to fork out another 100 Euro for another hard drive. Ive been a loyal Xbox user since 2001 and have stayed with you even though Ive had two previous consoles get the rrod. Surely this warrants some kind of help? Im not looking for a new hard drive I just want my game saves back.

Hello PervertedSpider! I do apologize but the Xbox Support Agent was correct about your Hard Drive only having a 90 day warranty if bought separate from the console. If you have tried all of the steps for the E68 error, and the console only has the error when the Hard Drive is connected means there is a fatal fault in the Hard Drive and a new one needs to be purchased.

There is no way to recover the information from the drive. If you have a friend with the same model console you have, you can try to see if the hard drive works on it.

I hope this helps.

E68 = HDD critical hardware failure. It will need to be replaced. Any items purchased such as game DLC, avatar items, premium themes, videos, music or anything you spent MS points on can be redownloaded from download history. To access this, press the guide button on your controller, scroll all te way to the right and select account management. Once you move to a different screen select download history and begin downloading. Videos and music will need to be done through Xbox Music and/or Xbox Video. As far as game saves, unfortunately they cannot be recovered. Using the Cloud for those super important game saves are a God send in situations like this, but hindsight is like that. Sorry to hear your issue, there is quite a few of us who have been in your position and truly can feel your pain.
Im extremely worried that Ive lost almost seven years of game saves.
Spinning mechanical storage fails with some frequency, unfortunately.
I dont want to lose thousands of hours of game save data.
The only way to prevent that is to manually Copy one's saves to a separate storage device (or Cloud Storage).
The customer support agent told me that because I purchased my hard drive separate from my console I only have a 90 day warranty. It's also not available at this time for the 360 HDD.

You can get them back but you need to buy a new drive and download your profile which shouldn't take long and then you will get your saves and all your money from them back

Did you upload saves to the cloud? If you did, you can download your saves and profiles back. But, if it is all in the hard drive then you have to get it repaired/replaced.
