I am able to log into my Microsoft account online as well as my xBox account.  But I cannot access xBox live on my console

Try these steps to solve the issue.

1.  Delete your gamertag only (Profile Only - NOT Profile and Items)

2.  Clear the cache 3 times

3.  Restart the console

4.  Redownload your profile (on the dash go to Social>Sign In/Out>Download Profile).

Hi Onyxishere, I am having this same problem.  When I check my connection it shows everything is working, I can download updated from the store but when I try to play a game it says profile does not have the correct permissions for xbox live.  I have tried different wifi connections and a hard line connection, and followed the steps you mentioned above but still cant get it to work.  Do you have any other advise?

sorry to hear it.  for future reference you should create a new thread detailing your issues.  

in the meantime, if you are looking to play on xbox live you do require a gold membership.  if this is not the problem then perhaps the parent account for your gamertag needs to adjust your settings.
