This error keeps popping up even after I do everything it told me to do. I changed my password, I added a back-up email and phone number: twice !! It will not let me log on to xbox live. I need to get back to Halo 4 !! Please help me !

Hey there ErringCross2511, let's get you back to Halo 4.

 

First off, did you update those security proofs (email and phone) on your console or online? Make sure they are saved and verified at account.live.com too! While you're there, take a look in the "Security Info" section for Two-Step Verification. If it's enabled, there will be an option to Create an App Password to use when you sign in on your console.

Then head back to the console and do the following in order:

  • Clear the cache
  • Restart the console by turning it off and then on again
  • Download your profile fresh from Xbox Live, even if it's still on your console. No need to delete it first!
    • Press the Guide button on your controller
    • Select "Sign In"
    • Scroll to the bottom and select "Download Profile"
    • Enter your email and password, and select your preferred storage device.

If another error appears in that process, try running a connection test to see if the issue lies somewhere within the network between your console and Xbox Live.
