e79 and e71 error

Over the last few days my 360 randomly just froze while playing Modern Warfare 2. I thought it was overheating or something so I passed no remarks of it. Then there today it stopped working with the e79 error and now it loads up and gives the e71 error. The xbox doesn't even load up to the dashboard now. Does anyone have any ideas or solutions about what I can do?

Will I be able to solve the problem over the phone or will I have to send the 360 away to be repaired?

This error usually signifies an internal issue with the console so it will need to be sent to MS, but you can clarify that when you phone support. I would definitely recommend you phoning them just to be sure though.

(There may be some procedure they can advise you about over the phone, but I have not seen anything on the forums about it that doesn't involve sending it in to MS).

Fingers crossed though.

It finally died today. I got the RRoD on it. So I think I will just get the newer model. Its the 5th time it has happened with this particular box :P Thanks a lot GreyPilgrim.

Anytime Mike :).

The 5th time well that sucks man, talk about unlucky.
But if its got the RROD it has an extended 3 year warranty, so if you have had it under that time you could get it repaired for free if you wanted. Or maybe if it is still covered get it repaired and keep it as a back up or sell it?.

Then again its a good excuse to buy the new 360  :)....
