Dumd question?

my elite died a few days ago so i got a slim 4gb. my question is i seen a few 3rd party hard drives for cheap i no they don't play Xbox games and I'm good with that. i just don't want to get it and a few months down the road m$ does and update and i can't use it any more than I'm out what i spent on it and back to where i started. so if you use one does it work the way it should or should i just shell out the $120 for a m$ one?

When it comes to third party devices I personally would steer clear and just by a Microsoft HDD. No need to take a risk of getting a new console banned.

As Eezak said, there is no point in buying a third-party HDD which can get the console banned. The third-party HDD also tend to have a higher failure rates and might cause compatibility issues for the console updates.
