Dual Monitors

I know split screen over two monitors is impossible but I know that you can have the same display replicated on another screen; my question is how?

I want to able to play on the monitor if just one person is playing but if more than one person is playing on the xbox, it isn't viable for them to be on that monitor but rather the 40 inch TV. Is it possible for the signal to be split so both the monitor and the TV to have the same audio and visual display in real time using a HDMI splitter?

Thanks.

That isn't the case otherwise how would gaming conventions share the screen with a bigger audience when they are using a small screen?

So I connect the Xbox to one of the inputs and both the monitor and TV to the output? Simple enough. Thanks.

Yes. Look specifically for a device that lists it can display the same input on two different outputs simultaneously.

Monoprice has several 4x2 switches. The one I listed is the most current, however if you don't require 3D support there are HDMI 1.2 and 1.3 options available. They're a bit less expensive.
