Dropping out from XBL

Hi Guys, It seems that my profile keeps dropping out when on online gaming (GTA 5) , lets me have about 5min of game and that kicks me out, and I have to connect again Done the Following: Deleted profile x 2 Removed the system cache added Port Forwarding for XBL and GTA5 Rebooted the XBOX ( a lot of times ) Still same problem I have checked the Cables and modem, and have had nothing else drop out ....

Thanks for trying all those steps so far, astroboy!

There are a few more things to try with your network hardware:

  • Unplug your modem, router, and console from the power for a solid 2 minutes. Then restart each one at a time.
  • Try a direct wired connection to your modem, bypassing the router. This isn't a permanent fix. If the disconnections continue, then we know that the router is not the issue.
  • Try using a different Ethernet cable, and/or plug into a different port on your router.
  • Run a Speed Test and make sure your overall connection speeds are fast enough for a stable connection.
  • If the numbers there don't look quite right, contact your ISP to see if they can improve the connection speed.


Let us know how those go. If you're still getting disconnected, we'll go a little deeper into the networking.

Hey there evil astroboy,

I see that you've tried deleting your profile.

Please make sure that you did the following steps in this exact order:

  1. Delete your profile (profile only, NOT profile and all items)
  2. Clear the System Cache twice
  3. Restart your console
  4. Re-download your profile

Hey there evil astroboy,

Could you try to restore your Xbox 360's network settings to factory defaults.

You can do this the following way:

  1. Press the Guide button on your controller, select Settings, and select System Settings.
  2. Select Network Settings.
  3. Select Wired Network or the name of your wireless network when the network list is displayed.
  4. Select Configure Network.
  5. On the Additional Settings tab, select Restore to Factory Defaults. When prompted, select Yes, Restore to Factory Defaults.
  6. Turn off your console.
  7. Turn on your console.
