Don't have correct permissions to access live

Yo, so I got a year subscription to Xbox live gold for christmas, just got new internet so decided to use it. I started it on friday and since then every time I go to play on live it says I don't have the correct permissions. I'm 18, I don't even think I was asked to give my age, so I don't know if it's an issue with having a child's account or something? Please, Help.

You're showing as a silver account, not gold. Are you sure you added to it to the correct account? Did you get any errors when you tried to add it?

I tried putting it to the email address i usually use but it said something like I already had an account so I created a new one.

Trying signing into https://billing.microsoft.com and see if it shows the gold as being added to the account. If you created a new account when you tried to add it something might have happened and the gold was added to the old account.

If you can't find anything on the billing site, call support and they might be able to verify which account it was used on.
