Disk Drive wont open.

Ive had my xbox for a couple of years now and recently the disk is getting stuck shut more often. I am always having to use the paperclip trick to open it if i want to play a new game or put in a new movie. is there any way to fix the problem altogether?

hi Graciegoose,

From your description it sounds like this is an ongoing issue, in order to get this fixed you would need to send it to the Xbox Online Service Center. for repair.

This used to happen on my old Xbox

I would suggest either having it repaired, or What I did was, open it up, give everything a vacuum, and clean the disk drive. (Avoid touching the lens)

For all in this post:

When the disc tray will not open while empty on the old Xbox 360 system there is one trick I have found has worked without issue on all the consoles I have seen with this ailment.

Turn the console on, lay down on it's side, press eject, while green light is flashing as to open and it's sticking knock on the side of the console with your knuckles as if you were knocking on a door, aim more toward the tray bezel but on the side of the console.

99.9% of the time it will open. Remember to knock when the green light is flashing, otherwise it will not do anything.

To avoid this from having to rap on the console everytime, ensure there is a disc in the tray at all times.

Sounds like you need a new disc tray, you should call Microsoft and see how much they will charge to repair it. Or you can go the UN-reccomended way  of replacing it yourself but Microsoft will not accept it or fix it because this is considered "tampering".
