I will be playing Mass Effect, or watching netflix, or nothing and I will be disconnected from Live.  I am not able to reconnect until I either restart my router or I do a connection test.  I am able to sign in right when my xbox turns on but every 15-30 minutes it will sign me out and the only error will be is that I need to sign back into Live.

Hey there Boomer!
Are you just disconnected from LIVE without any message or error code?

Start out with some basic troubleshooting.

  1. Clear system cache
  2. Delete profile (profile only) and download it

For some troubleshooting it is necessary for you to configurate your router settings. If you have any doubt whatsover then i suggest you contact your ISP or the manufacture tech support for guidens.

Ensure that your modem and router firmware is up to date. Visit the manufactures website and download the latest update. Reset your modem and router (a little button on the back of your euipment) and unplug them both.

  • Wait one minute.
  • Turn on your modem and wait for it to come back online (one more minute).
  • Turn on the next piece of hardware (for example, the router), and wait another minute.

Login to your router.
Click Tools tab
Make sure UPnP and Gaming mode is ticked enabled
Click Apply
Click Advanced tab
On IP Filters make sure it is disabled

On your console reset network settings back to default.
Note Before you reset the Xbox 360 console’s network settings, make sure that you write down the current settings in case you have to restore them later.

  • Press the Guide button on your controller, go to Settings, and then select System Settings.
  • Select Network Settings.
  • Select Wired Network or the name of your wireless network, if you are prompted to do so.
  • Select Configure Network.
  • On the Additional Settings tab, select Restore to Factory Defaults.

Could possibly be an Idle Time setting on your router or modem. This will disconnect after it detects that the connection isnt being used for a certain amount of time. Now I know you are connecting and possibly playing a game/watching a movie, but I have seen this setting cause this type of issue. I would suggest contacting your ISP about the issue.

Good luck

I think that solution that fixed it was doing a hard reset on the router.  I have had no troubles since yesterday when I did this.  Thanks!
