disconnected from xbox live cannot reconnect until after testing connection

Starting about a week ago, I constantly get disconnected from xbox live while watching a movie on netflix (I've mostly been watching netflix movies so I'm not really sure if this problem is limited to that or if it would occur if I was to play a matchmaking game). I can watch a movie for about 10-20 min. before I get disconnected. I cannot reconnect to xbox live unless I test the connection, which always comes back saying everything is connected and fine or if I restart the xbox. Comcast is having issues with their site so I cannot check my cap but I've never reached my cap in the past and it's the beginning of the month so I don't think that would have anythign to do with my problem.

This is really annoying, I basically can't watch anything on netflix and I can't find any solution. What's really annoying is the fact that everything was working until up until last week or so and I have not changed a thing... So I really don't understand why it suddenly does not work... Any help or advice is much appreciated.

im having a problem like this but i can just be setting at the dash and it will disconnect. i can sign in without testing now but previously i had to test it just to sign in. wtf is going on xbox i am a paying customer for over 5 years now i want this fixed

Yeah I have a very similar problem, when I sign in I have to troubleshoot my connection for it to work. Even afterwards I can't use apps such as Netflix or Last.fm. It kicks me off of said apps and sometimes it says Error Code 1. I live in a dorm and when you use the internet on a computer you have to sign in via a webpage using a username and password, you also need to do the same using a Cisco NAC agent. Is there any way around this issue?

Well, it disconnected while idle in netflix also, not just while watching... I suppose more people have this issue, but it doesn't seem to be addressed at all, but I don't get any ban error like Qo MoOm oQ though, maybe that's a slightly different problem.

I'm having the same exact issue but mine started last night.  I'm playing a game and suddenly I get signed out.  So I tried playing a game that does not require being connected to the internet and I still get signed out.  I then tried signing in and just sitting at the dashboard menu, 10 minutes later I get signed out.  All my other devices in the house can connect and stay connected.  I even tried my ps3 and it stays connected to the internet as well.  I have cable internet and connected via ethernet and tried resetting the modem and xbox multiple times.  Never had any problem till last night.  I get signed out 10-15 minutes after I sign in.

OP - can you try a direct connection from your console to your modem? All other posters, please create new threads with the same info provided in the OP - we need that info to help troubleshoot issues.
