Disconnected after first attempt at multi-player in MW3 every time

I have tried redownloading my profile, but that hasn't worked.

I just got the 360s for Christmas and every single time I try logging into MW3 multiplayer and start up a match it has me sitting there for a while searching for a game. Then I get the message "The Call of Duty: M:odern Warfare 3 server is not available at this time. Please try again later or visit [the URL] for updates."

Shorlty after I exit out of this message I am disconnected from X-Box Live. When I re-sign into Live it works perfectly. I'd like it to work perfectly right from the start.

Hey Merse, sorry to hear about the disconnection issue! Okay, does this same issue occur in any other games, or is it happening only in MW3?

Honestly, I haven't tried any other game. The 360 was a Christmas gift for the kids, but I made sure to get MW3 for myself. They have a bunch of Kinect games and a few others. I could try one of the Kinect games. Any pop to mind that would be good? The kids have two sports games (Kinect Sports 2, and Big League Sports I think), the Adventure game that comes with it, Kinectimals, and two dance games (Just Dance 2 for Kids, and another one).

I can certainly see how that would be frustrating! Just to clarify, are you able to access the servers without issue the second time you try? And, any Kinect game that offers matchmaking would be great to test with, such as Kinect Sports: Season Two. :)

I am able to access the servers with zero problems on the second try every time. I will try Kinect Sports later tonight and let you know.

After starting up a Football match for the first time it searched for an opponent for a while, then when it said the opponent was found I was kicked out. I received a popup message to the effect "Someone in your family needs to have an X-Box Live membership" and I was disconnected from Live either right before the message or right after. When I relogged in and tried playing another football game I was successful. I played two matches (technically one guy quit) without a problem before signing off.

What should I try next?

Okay, having read this thread a couple times, I'm thinking that the issue sounds like it's limited to MW3, and that the message you encountered the first time you launched Kinect 2 was a fluke. That being said, let's see if there's something off with one of the MW3 updates. To delete those, you'll need to clear your cache. Can you please give that a try, and let me know if the issue persists? If it does, can you let me know if all profiles on the console experience the issue the same exact way?

Would you mind describing the way your Xbox is connected to Xbox LIVE?  Wired, wireless, etc.

Who is your internet provider?

Have you played any other consoles online in your household?

RE: Fister   I'm the only one that plays MW3 at my house.

RE: Shadwostrike  I'm connected wirelessly through Comcast. I've played the Wii in the far gone past.

I've got it down to a science now.

1. Start game (automatically signed into Live)

2. Go all the way through and try to start a match.

3. Wait over a minute for it to finally tell me the server is down.

4. Exit all the way back to the main menu.

5. Select Multiplayer again and be told I've been disconnected from X-Box Live.

6. Sign in to X-Box Live again and told I'm connnected.

7. Go through everything, start a match, and it works.
