Dashed lines/rainbow effects on screen?

Since I've bought my Xbox 250GB Slim the console seems to, over a period of time of gaming, display dashed lines and rainbow like effects on the display. Makes impossible to play, only remedy is to turn completely off and then back on again. I've sent the console off to Xbox to be repaired and they said they couldn't find a fault with it?

I think the console is overheating?

Here is a few pictures illustrating my problem:

Usually if a unit overheats a red light will pop and the console will shut itself off (usually).

It sounds like screen tearing or an issue with the GPU (at a guess), but does this happen with certain titles OP or all of your games?.

How long (roughly) would you say you play before this happens, and is it consistently occurring?.

Do you get any red lights on the front of the console?.

Are you connected using the component A/V cables or HDMI leads?.

Sorry for the questions just trying to rule out possibilities

The exact same thing happened to me and I sent it in for repairs. When I got it back it was in worse shape then when I sent it in. Once I sent it in again, they sent me a new one.

This problem happens with an game regardless of what it is, some games freeze when the lines come up but not all the time.

The dashed lines come up when I've been gaming between 1-3 hours of playing. It seems to come up randomly?

I'm using a HDMI cable to connect to my TV.

I don't get any red lights come up at all, just the dashed lines and rainbows!

@Pluto70 - Do you think I should just send it in again? What if they "couldn't find the fault" again, and just send it back?!

When I sent it in, I did it through the online request a repair. That way I can put in a detailed report of what is wrong with it. When I have sent in for repairs with the people over the phone they tend to mess it up.

You see this is the problem, I completed a detailed report like you did online. I was then

surprised to hear they couldn't find a fault when I got it back

I don't particularly want to part with it again for 2-3 weeks, to have it returned back, and them saying they couldn't find anything wrong with it.

I'm tempted to just give it back to the place I bought it from, and request a replacement? I only bought it last October?!

Have you tried another HDMI cable or another input on your TV? Or, if possible, another TV altogether? :)

I've tried using the AV cables you get with console, and I still get the same error. I thought it might of been the HDMI cable too, but it's not that.

I don't have a spare TV lying around to test on lol, I don't think it would make much difference, as it is only displaying the output, and would have no direct effect on the xbox itself.

I have sent off a support ticket, to see what they say this time, I suggested I get a new console as they didn't find the fault I'm suffering with, and have included all suggestions/questions from this forum board.

Very rarely a TV can have an issue displaying the Xbox 360's output, hence the suggestion to try another if at all possible! :)

Could you bring it to a friend's house? Just to test. :)
