Dashboard update 2.0.13146.0 one hour power off mode does not shutoff in Extender mode?

Hello,

I have found that the new feature for 1 hour power off when idle does not work if the XBOX is in extender mode and is simply sitting idle on the Media Center Menu. I was disappointed as we use an Xbox primarily as an Extender in the bedroom and when we fall asleep, it is still on when we wake, anything from 6 -8 hours of the System on a stagnent Media center menu.

Can anyone confirm their XBOX360 shuts down after 1 hour whilst having it in Extender Mode, idle of course?

Does the 6 hour time limit work as expected? Or is behaving the same way?

I believe the 6 Hours may have worked in the past as there have been mornings where we would be up and the XBOX was off.

I couldn't be sure if the 6 hours off in extender mode is working since the update, would have to test, however i am definately sure that it is NOT turning off after 1 hour on the MCX menu sitting idle.

I'll test the 1 hour option again tonight.

Well, i tested my 2 xboxs last night. I left one on the Dashboard and the other sitting on the MCX menu. The dashboard one powered down after 1 hour but the MCX one kept trucking along.

Alright, interesting. I'll see if I can't find out more info on this for you, whether it's an error or intended. It might be intended due to long movies or other content where you would not be supplying any input to the controller for an hour or more.

Thanks,

I also rang this through the XBOX support help desk but they referred me to the forums as they had no workaround fix for this.

I suspect maybe the MCX session is keeping itself alive over the network, although i would have thought it was possible to exclude that process from the idle criteria. Surely sitting on the MCX main menu can be considered as idle mode, albeit different to dashboard idle mode.

It does appear that it is by design to prevent the console from shutting off in the middle of movies. You might try posting having auto-off working when in the menu as a suggestion on our Xbox LIVE Suggestion and Feedback forum! :)

Ok, it's not terribly obvious where the feedback and suggestions are for the Console?

HI, it appears that the 1 hour auto off option is only a "low power sleep mode" option instead of an "off" as Major Nelson says in this post here

Ii found the same thing with being in MCX and the console still being on in the morning after this update, even though the 6 hours used to work fine, i would prefer to be able to set a sleep timer on the console, if that would be implemented it would be perfection.
