Dashboard never changes. It has been the same for 4 or more months.

My dashboard has been the same now for numerous months.It still says Tiger Woods 14, Bang bang racing, fruit ninja, SSX Kinect sports 2 and Kinect Central. It also never updates the marketplace. This really annoys me since every time I want to download something new I have to go on my computer to find it and download it from there. Mathis only occurs on my profile and none of the other profiles on my Xbox.

Hi there, have you tried any of the following?:

Delete the Marketplace System Data file

-

The Xbox 360 console also stores temporary files for the Xbox Games store. You may be able to resolve this issue if you delete the Marketplace System Data file.

-

To delete the Marketplace System Data file, follow these steps:

1.On your console, go to Settings, and then select System.

2.Select Storage and then select your primary storage device.

3.Select System Items.

4.Select Marketplace System Data.

5.Select Delete.

6.Restart your console.

-

Delete your profile from the console (profile only), clear the system cache, restart your console and then re-download your profile.

-

Delete and re-download profile: support.xbox.com/.../profile-move-delete

-

Clear system cache: support.xbox.com/.../clear-system-cache

You could try refreshing the dashboard. To do this, bring up the Guide, and then hold RT and press Y. This will refresh the dashboard.

Alternatively, try reinstalling the system update too. This is done by visiting the Storage Device screen and pressing 'LB RB X LB RB X' in succession.

Sorry to hear you're having issues with your marketplace not updating.

Just to double check: Did you try the steps for Downloading your Profile that were linked earlier?

Also, a couple questions for you

  • Is your account a child account or an adult account?
  • Have you tried running a connection test? This can sometimes bump the connection and refresh what you're seeing in the marketplace.
  • Are you able to log in to other profiles on your console and see if you have the same marketplace?

I think that you might have misunderstood the problem, or I haven't been explaining it well enough. The problem is that my dashboard has been stuck at the same "advertisements" for games and apps for a very long time. This problem has occurred for probably 2 years or more, but this exact layout has been for around 4 months.  It updates probably 2-4 times a year. This means I don't get to see all the offers and deals that is available on Xbox LIVE. And yes, the marketplace has also been stuck to the same games for the same amount of time.

Mister Fizzle: Yes I tried the steps of downloading my profile. My account is a child account, I have tried to run the connection test and yes, I've been signed in to other profiles on my Xbox and it's 'normal' and just fine on those.

Hey there Cows!

It sounds like this is a parental setting on your main console. Since your account is a child account it looks like the parental account could have set the items that you're able to view to only include content approved for child accounts. I suggest consulting the owner of the parent account to see if they would be willing to change the settings for your console.

I can't believe after all this time it was one of the parental settings. Thank you so much all of you who have tried to help me and you who actually knew how I could fix it! This has been bothering me for a long time and it was that simple, hahaha. Once again thank.you!
