Controller loses sync if moved more then 3 ft from xbox .

I have an old arcade unit and for some reason the conrtrollers lose sync with the box if moved more then 3 ft from the unit. Any idea why this is?

It is not a battery issue as I have tried 5 different controllers with batteries and plug n play kits . It does not matter.

Sounds like the wireless module in the console is dying. Nothing you can do.

I would check here, if you have not done so already.  If this does not help, it may, in fact be an issue with the internal wireless connector for the controllers which means a trip to the Microsoft Repair Facility in Mesquite, TX.

One of the biggest things I have noticed when this happens is interference from other wireless electronic devices.  Sometimes my phone will cause issues with connectivity of controllers, but I always seem to forget because it does not always happen.
