Console/disc gets hot

Have a Halo Reach XBOX 360.  It's stored inside an entertainment cabinet.  It has space around it.  Have noticed though recently that I can play a game for two hours and it gets hot.  When I eject the disc, it's also hot.  Is something to worry about?

Most of the time its not. If it does over heat the Xbox will shut down and wait until the system is cooled down to a safe operating temperature. Another thing to do is to take a look at the openings and see if there's some dust if there is try to clean it out with a mini vacuum meant for electronics. Cheers!

Make sure their is allot of room for the heat to escape the cabinet. You can buy a fan to put on the back of your Xbox for extra cooling.

Hey there Scorpion,

I'm sorry to hear your Xbox 360 console is having heating issues.

I would recommend that you move your console to a different location, even just taking it out of the entertainment center and putting it on the floor. That'll give us a better idea if it is the console itself.

In addition, when the console is powered on check the light on the power brick and see what it color it is.

Let us know and we'll go from there. Happy gaming!

Hello, MkScorpion4400! I would recommend placing a fan near the console or purchasing a console fan. They normally run about $15-$25 at an average retailer and they clip to the fan located on the top of the console. This dramatically cools the system down while it's operating. I hope this helps!

Just a follow up to Iazarus923 some fans might actually scorch the inside of your Xbox. If you do buy a console fan make sure it won't scorch your Xbox. Cheers!
