Console won't search for potential wireless controllers

Hi this is my first post here, so if I do something wrong, I promise I didn't mean too.

Anyways, I am trying to connect two different wireless controllers to my Xbox360.  I can press the search button on the controllers and the lights will spin, but when I press the search button on the Xbox360 console nothing happens.  I use a custom faceplate so I thought that might be the problem and I took it off and pressed the button in with a pen a couple of times and still nothing.  I have synced and resynced these particular controllers in the past and it appears the problem is not the controllers themselves.  Any ideas?

Thanks!

I have tried those suggestions and I've gone through all of the troubleshooting I could find on this site.  The main issue I see is that the troubleshooting is based on the controllers and I just can't get the system to even search for controllers.

You might want to try what I did once.

By holding the connect button on both controllers and the console, they seem to be in "search mode" instead of just looking for their original console (this is useful when you're using a controller that has been already "paired" with another console).

You just hold the button for a couple of seconds on each and they should look for each other.

Please let me know if that resolves your issue. :)

From the Xbox Wireless Controller Manual:

To connect your wireless controller to your console:
1 Press and hold down the
Xbox Guide button until the
controller turns on.
2 If your console is not on,
press the Power button
to turn on the console.
3 Press and release the
connect button on
the console.
4 Press and release the
connect button on
the controller.
5 After the Ring of Light on the controller and console spin and flash once, the
controller is connected. The quadrant that remains lit indicates the
controller’s position.

Still no success.  I press the connect button on the controllers and they search, but still when I press the connect button on the console nothing happens.  I press it, press and hold, repeatedly tap it and nothing happens.  The lights don't light up or spin or anything to indicate that it is searching for controllers

Hmm. Sorry if that seems obvious to ask but: You do all of this at the same time right? Timing is an issue here. You have to press and hold on the controller AND the console at the same time. Then you release. Make sure they are close when you do this (I bet your arms can only stretch so far anyway ^_^).

Yeah, maybe I should rephrase my problem and take the controllers out of the picture.  The issue is:  When I press the button on my xbox that searches for controllers, nothing happens.  It doesn't search nor do the lights spin.  I believe it is an issue with the console alone.

Oh! I see now. Are any other controllers working or none at all? Is the console having other issues apart from this?

I have 2 wired controllers that work great, but I don't have any wireless controllers that are already synced, and no new ones will sync.  Otherwise, no the console is perfect.

I would suggest two things then.

First, you could contact the XBOX Support Tweet Fleet on Twitter @XboxSupport for more technical help.

You could also register your console for repair at support.xbox.com/.../repair-process.

I am sorry I couldn't help you more, I hope your issue gets fixed as soon as possible.

Cheers,
