Connection Issues

I keep getting disconnected from xbox live.

following http://forums.xbox.com/xbox_forums/xbox_support/f/9/t/9.aspx:

Currently living in St Andrews, Scotland, UK

ZyXEL P-660HW-T1 v3 Internet Sharing Gateway

Wireless Connection

Black External Adapter

UPnP Enabled

Nat Type is open

IPS is the post office

DSL connection

I've tried port forwarding but it did nothing.

It disconnects every 40 minutes whilst playing and when its just left connected, rather frustrating.

Are you able to test a wired connection so that we can narrow down the issue?

Im having this exact same issue...no trouble re connecting however its every 5-10 minutes and is becoming quite frusturating. the only information i can verify is that i had bought the limited gears of war xbox for my girlfriend and had been using it while my console was out for repair. i never had this issue with the newer xbox. is it possible that it might be the xbox itself momentarily dropping my wireless due to a hardware issue? im currently using the halo reach edition xbox 360. any information on this would be greatly appreciated! thank you.

Hey everyone! If you are having "the same issue" or any type of issue, please start with our Connection Guide (forums.xbox.com/.../9.aspx) and if you still have issues after trying the suggestions there, make a new thread with the responses to the questions in the guide.

Laz: Is there any way you can move some equipment around to get closer to the router? Trying a wired connection is a quick and easy way to rule out the wifi as a possible cause here, rather than ask you to replace your router on faith. Let us know if you can move stuff around or if you can find a longer cable. Thanks!

The post office were kind enough to send out a new router as we were having an issue with our laptops, so its a brand new router. I'll see what i can do with the ethernet cable and keep u updated. Cheers

Update!

With the ethernet cable plugged I experienced no disconnections. I think that the problem is with my flatemates xbox as i've used the wifi adapter at home on my own xbox without problems. I Think i'll just buy a 15m ethernet cable, dont think they are too expensive.

Cheers for the help guys.
