connection issues

Ok heres the deal I just bought a xbox 360 slim a few months ago. Ever since I bought it I have been having connection issues. It connects to Xbox Live during start up, but when I go to play a game online it wont allow me nor will it allow me to do a update from xbox live. The updates will start for a second and then stop and a error message will pop up saying it cannot connect and to do a test. Sometimes before during online play it would say that the NAT was restrictive and woulndnt allow me to play. I have an older XBOX 360 (non slim) that I use a wireless connection for also and it works just fine. I dont understand why the new slim is having a problem.

Okay, so if you've worked through the stickies, you've already tried power-cycling your modem and router, correct? In that case, please try a wired connection directly to the modem (you'll have to power-cycle it again), and then try playing on LIVE. Please let us know how it goes.

I have seen many problems with Linksys routers having UPnP enabled.  I suggest disabling UPnP, there is no check in the box for "filter multicast", and no check for "filter internet NAT redirection", then forward your ports to the IP address your xbox is currently using.  If you have other devices on your network, you may have to enter your router setup and change the IP address you forward to if your xbox IP changes when using DHCP.  You can find a list of ports by searching xbox support or by going to portforward.com.

so i did the reboot for the modem and the router and now i connect and when I start to play the game it just disconnects me from live. As soon as I go and test the connection it connects again. I did get a status code and its-80072ee2. but i think thats just for marketplace items. This is getting frustrating because my other xbox works just fine.

I'm seeing many users having trouble and a common theme is having UPnP enabled.  Try disabling it to see if your problem reduces or disappears.
