Connecting to Live through 802.1x

So my university uses 802.1x internet authentication and when I went to student technology services, they said that they couldn't help me but i could find "a way around it" to connect to live.

I've googled and googled and searched forums and I found this website http://www.stmarytx.edu/technology/help/index.php?site=gameConsoles#MacOS, which helped a great deal but I still can't connect.

My mac is 10.6.7 update, and I have an ethernet cable and have enabled internet sharing. When I manually enter the IP adress/gateway etc.. it gives me an error about the IP address. This is just so frustrating!! I don't know whether i'm putting in the wrong IP addresses and things like that as the ethernet and my wireless seemed to have different numbers.

Please help! I don't want the subscription I bought to go to waste.

I have followed the instructions here with great results, otherwise you might be able to internet connection share a router to your computer and connect wirelessly to the router, but that might be starting to slow things down seeing how it would go from the xbox, wireless, computer, wireless ect... also making nat issues more likely

have you tried putting public DNS #'s such as these:

primary: 8.8.8.8

secondary: 8.8.4.4

these are public dns servers, don't know much about macs but there should be a way to check what dns servers your computer is using, might try using those as well
