Cloud "offline"

When I try to open cloud saved games (I have tried for WWE 13, Plants V Zombies to make sure it's not just WWE 13) I get an error code and a message cloud storage is offline. I looked in announcements for something about cloud service and didn't see anything and when I entered my error code into the code search section of support nothing came up. Anyone else having this problem? I'm going to check back in about an hour and if no one has commented that it's down or they're having the same issue I am going to just contact xbox or whatever and see what's going on.

Too bad there isn't a better design paradigm. They could have a local cache that synchronizes with the server in the background. I bet it would become an industry standard.

Actually, I think this is how the Cloud service is supposed to work...a local copy of your save files are stored on the Xbox and sync with Live. Unfortunately, this doesn't seem help whatever problem is going on tonight. I tried disconnecting my Xbox from the Internet to see if I could launch a save from only the local cache, but I get an error saying I need to connect to Live to use loud. This is a drawback I didn't expect until tonight. This also means if you loose Internet at home, you wont be able to access Cloud saves either (I believe).

I agree Wilbur. I think in the future I will keep a local, updated save file just in case. I will from now on simply use cloud for when I am going somewhere else rather than a convenient place for my saved games.

It's weird, I was able to move several files from the cache to my hard drive, but actual game save files always error out.  It's been several hours that this problem has occurred, and I thought Microsoft said they would have updates every 30 minutes.  Perhaps I misread, but this is a disappointing problem at the start of the weekend!

No, unfortunately you did not misread. They said every thirty minutes but who knows? And yeah weekend indeed. I have a house full of intoxicated friends and we can't get to our cloud to start our weekly drunk gaming shenanigans lol

Microsoft really needs to change this behavior by offering users using the local cache for use.

For some games you can move the save file back to a local device from cache, but i dont really trust this method either, since always can read issues like corrupted saves on move etc.

This is bordering on the ridiculous at this point. I have not had access to my data for 36+ hours on a holiday weekend no less. I have countless hours of game play on thier cloud and worst of all I cant play any of my new games unless I start over. I love how much microsoft has downplayed the situation too. thank god for the steam sale.

As a workaround, you can  access the "Cloud Partition" and move your saved games back to the local disk. Go to Settings - Storage Devices - CloudSave and just select then copy to the local disk.
