Change WLID Associated With Gamertag (30 Days error)

So this is the first time I'm trying to associate a different WLID to my gamertag.  I have a WLID ready to go and available but the error message comes up and the end of the process on my XBOX 360 that says you can only do this once every 30 days.  This is the FIRST time I'm ever trying this and the account's been open for over a year now.  All the steps are done right, which is the only thing the people on the phone would ask me about, so what could cause this???

You could call up phone support in your region (support.xbox.com/.../contact-us.aspx) to ask what has happened here.

Did you ask if they show that your WLID has been changed in the last 30 days? They should have a record of that. Perhaps someone else in the house did it, or you did it accidentally and don't remember doing it?

When you make a new Windows Live ID which you just said you did (it's more than likely that it's less than 30 days old which is why you are hitting this stone wall) you'll have to wait until the 30 days are up (after account creation of this Windows Live ID) to transfer it to another account to make another account free. Hope that answers your question.

No, I've had both accounts for over a year, but thanks for the suggestion. I tried calling again and they said someone could have been trying to access my account sometime this month.  The only solution they could think of was sending an email to *** Email address is removed for privacy ***
