Sorry to hear it STG.  In the other thread you posted in you mentioned that your console did not have an internal drive which suggests an older FAT model.  Normally, if all other support steps did not work the next suggestion would be to send it in for repair.  However the older FAT models are no longer supported for repair.  Other than suggesting a newer console I don't think there's much else we can do to help here.

this is really annoying because consoles worked great, after update they dont connect to xbox live and the only thing you say is send to repair that in my case is not an option or buy a new xbox, really, i wonder if theres anyone at xbox division or microsoft working to fix this bad update

STG, I heard it was an Update they rolled out accidentally because it had bugs in it. Sadly, those of us who got forced to Update it and cannot because of that are S.O.L. it looks like - I'm not sending my X360 E in for repair when it'll cost $90 and take nearly a month to be returned - looks like I'll have to sadly move elsewhere...

Hey, guys! This is not an update issue, but a hardware issue. The update likely exposed the issue that your console was experiencing. If you are receiving an error code when updating, please check out our Error Code Look Up Tool and look up the last 8 digits of the error. If that doesn't help you out, please contact us via phone or chat support for appropriate troubleshooting steps for your error. If you find the error code but the troubleshooting doesn't work for you, please set up a repair on our Online Service Center.  If your console is the original 360, unfortunately, you will be unable to set up a repair through us as we no longer repair those consoles.

Well, the thing is, that only the people for whom the update fails will write that on the internet. No sane person would go to the internet and write "Hey, my update worked flawlessly, everything works as expected". So while you see "many" people, there are lots more without problems.

But in order to try and resolve your issue: Please go to this website where the error code is explained.

Unfortunately, if this update fails, all future updates will also fail. So let's try to fix this update.

Please do the following:

If possible, get two USB thumb drives. Make sure, both USB Sticks are empty and have at least 1GB of storage capacity.

Plug one USB drive into your console, and in the system settings, have the console prepare that stick as a Xbox storage device. Then turn the console off and remove your harddrive.

Now turn on the console and hold down the controller sync button until the console is completely started (on older consoles it's the small round button next to the Memory Unit slots, and on newer consoles it's the button next to the front USB flap). Then go to the settings again, and in the storage settings menu where you can select the storage drives, press the following button combination: LB RB X LB RB X. If necessary let the console reboot.

Plug the second USB drive into your PC and make sure it's empty.

Then, click this link. After the download has finished, double click on the downloaded ZIP File and copy the "$SystemUpdate" folder to the USB drive in your PC. Make sure, that when you open the USB drive on your PC, you only see the "$SystemUpdate" folder.

Safely eject the USB drive and plug it into your console together with the other USB stick. The console

Let the console try to update again from the USB drive.

If that worked, congratulations. You fixed your console. Turn the console off again, and plug in your harddrive again.

If that fails, you really have to contact the official Xbox support for a repair.

I tried the above solution but it did not work.  I did, however, follow another suggestion and simply cleared the cached three times on all storage devices and restarted, and then repeated.  This resolved the issue.

It might seem silly, but it worked.
