Cant sign in to xbox live

I purchased 1 month xbox live membership and when I try to sign in I get this message: " Your gamer profile does not have correct permissions to access XBOX LIVE functionality".  Do I need to activate the new membership somehow?

This should be automatic and I can see you are gold according to the website. I recommend trying to redownload your profile, or just give it a little bit of time if you registered the month online, as it can take an hour or so to filter down.

Here's a link on downloading your profile if you do not know, don't delete the profile just redownload it, and that should let your xbox know you are gold.
