Hey there!  Just to check, is this the first wired connection you've tried?  Or were you wired before?  It's weird that an extra step would get you a better connection.  Also, what model console do you have?  The older model with a wireless adapter, or the new ones with the internal wifi?

There are two versions of the BT Home Hub 2.0, the A and the B model. The hardware contained within the Home Hub 2.0A was manufactured by Thomson SpeedTouch, who had bought out Inventel and all their hardware and software rights. This model is electronically identical to the Thomson SpeedTouch TG797n.

The hardware contained within the BT Home Hub 2.0B was manufactured by Siemens' Gigaset division in Germany. The middleware was developed by Jungo, a subsidiary of NDS, and is based on their openRGTM product.

Some Home Hub 2.0 units were also made by Hon Hai Precision Ind. Co. Ltd.

Which do you have?

AWESOME. That is super good to hear. Sorry it took so long to get you that IP address error gone, but I have very little experience with British ISPs for support. You helped me learn a lot, though. So thank YOU for all you've taught me. :)

+Reset the xbox network config. Settings> System> Network Settings> Select your network > Configure Network > Additional settings > Restore to factory default > Yes

-Turn the xbox off

-Powercycled network equipment "Reboot your modem and router" Your modem needs to bootup before you power on your router.

-Turn the xbox on

-Reconnected to the network it will ask for your wireless password if you're using wireless.

At this stage of the troubleshooting process, yes! I'm only curious if your console are able to communicate through this early stage, of getting an IP address from the DHCP server. Try with a different network set-up and let us know if you still get an IP address error.
