Can't connect to wireless network

I've tried everything. I went through all the troubleshooting steps. Including manually doing everything. Still doesn't connect. A couple hours ago I turned my xbox on and it connected and had to update xbox live. Everything was fine until that was installed. Now xbox wont connect to my network. I've used the same network for 2 years and all of sudden it stops working? Very frustrating. Hopefully someone can help me. please email me an answer! I work all day long and wont be able to check this forum. [mod removed]

Hi,

Which wireless network adapter as you using? I would say your issue is the use of WEP security, please use WPA2-PSK(AES) instead, you can find more help here as well:- www.unofficialguidetolive.co.uk/.../114-troubleshooting-and-improving-wireless

another thing is when the setting on the xbox is set to automatic IP it gives me one that starts with 169 but the DHCP is on. I've used this router for the past 2 years with no problems. so I don't want to start messing my computer connection up if that is still working.

Disable wireless security and try to connect.  If successful, re-enable security (the same security) and try to connect again.

now when I turn it off it works...when I turn it back on it doesn't work. How do I get it to work again with the security? I live in an apartment complex and really would like to have that security.
