I've just moved into a new house and have a slightly different network set up. Everything seems to be working except my Xbox.
Here's my current setup:
- Third Floor
- Cable modem connected to wireless router
- Wireless router connected to Belkin powerline adapter, plugged in to the wall outlet
- Second Floor
- Belkin powerline adapter, plugged in to the wall, connected to DIRECTV receiver
- First Floor
- Belkin powerline adapter plugged in to the wall, connected to Netgear 5-port switch
- DIRECTV receiver connected to switch
- iMac connected to switch
- Blu-ray player connected to switch
- Xbox 360 connected to switch
Everything else on that Netgear switch seems to be connecting fine in fact, the computer I'm using right now is connected to that switch). Using DHCP, they are getting assigned an IP address with no problem. My Xbox, however keeps saying that an IP address could not be assigned. I've been through the steps on Xbox's support page. I've reset the network settings back to default, I've tried manually assigning an IP address, nothing seems to work. My Xbox will connect to the network fine wirelessly.
I've double checked that my Time Capsule is set to allow DHCP and NAT. The only mention of my Xbox in the router logs is this:
Jun 18 17:44:36 Severity:5 Associated with station 7c:ed:8d:4b:1f:8f
Jun 18 17:44:37 Severity:5 Rotated TKIP group key.
Jun 18 17:44:37 Severity:5 Installed unicast CCMP key for supplicant 7c:ed:8d:4b:1f:8f
Jun 18 17:44:46 Severity:5 Disassociated with station 7c:ed:8d:4b:1f:8f
I see that over and over again
The changes in my network set up from my old house to my new one are the addition of powerline adapters and the addition of a switch. In my old house, the cable modem connected to the wireless router and then my Xbox and Blu-ray player connected directly to the router.
Anyone have any ideas?
