Cannot sign into Xbox live... Connection tests work fine

Hey guys. I've had this problem for the past three days. Before then, my Xbox LIVE worked perfectly.

The problem first started when I turned on my Xbox to play Halo 4 multiplayer. At this point, Xbox LIVE was still working for me. As soon as I got on, the game messaged me and said something along the lines of " Unable to write to your gamer profile." I went back to the dashboard and it turns out I was no longer logged into LIVE.

Obviously, I tried to sign in again but I received an error saying : "Your connection to Xbox LIVE has been lost. Please try again. [Ok] / [Test connection]". I tested my connection wondering if my internet had gone out only to find that all the connection tests passed. No issues whatsoever. I tried signing again and got the same error. Rinse and repeat.

If anyone can help me, it'll be greatly appreciated.

It is possible that your profile might have become corrupted. You may delete and download your profile as follows:

  1. Go to Settings, and then select System.
  2. Select Storage.
  3. Select All Devices.
  4. Select Gamer Profiles.
  5. Select the gamertag that you want to delete.
  6. Select Delete.
  7. Select Delete Profile Only. This deletes the profile but leaves saved games and achievements.

Now download your profile from LIVE server as follows:

  1. Press the Xbox Guide button on your controller (large X button in the center of your controller).
  2. Select Download Profile.
  3. Enter the Microsoft account associated with your Xbox LIVE gamertag.
  4. Enter your Microsoft account password.

You may also want to clear your Xbox system cache. This will remove temporary files from the system cache. Here's how!
