I recently bought an xbox 360 (last month) and tried out the 1 month free of gold. My membership ended, so I decided to go and renew it through the console. My first issue I had was that xbox couldn't have that content through this account, I needed to change my online safety information or something along those lines. Looking over my safety I decided it would just be easier to try it on the computer. I got my information in and followed the right steps to renew my xbl account (going for a full year) and paying with my credit card. When I went to confirm my purchase it bounced back an error which said "This action cannot be performed at this time. Please try again later. For more information, go to http://www.xbox.com/support."
Support offers nothing for what's going on with my situation. I've hunted around the internet for some solutions, and come across a couple similar stories like mine, but mostly from last month. More than one has said to make a new account because you were reported. I don't know how I could have been reported. I don't own/play a multiplayer game, so it's not like I've done some sort of cheating. I've only interacted with one person on xbl, a good friend on mine, and sent about 4 messages back and forth.
I saw some suggestions on here including going to your billing and seeing if there's some outstanding charges. There are no charges on my account, none pending, and none over due. Literally nothing is wrong with my account, or my credit card. On the
microsoft page with information, it says my credit card status is 'good'. If microsoft has no issues with my card, my account is squeaky clean, and I have the funds, why can't I renew my membership?
