Cannot connect to Xbox live

Network Connection Type: Wired
If Wireless, what type of encryption are you using? n/a
Things you have tried: Reset router for 30 seconds, restore factory defaults on Xbox, restored factory defaults on router and re-added ports
Is UPnP Enabled? Yes
Is NAT Type Open? Yes
Any Error Codes you encounter: None
What type of internet do you have? Cable/DSL/T1/3G? DSL
Who is your ISP(Internet Service Provider)? Virgin Media
When you run "Test Xbox LIVE connection" what is the exact message shown on screen? Xbox is connected to network and internet but not xbox live.

"There's a problem with your connection. select more info for a description of the problem and how you can fix it"

Followed those step 2x now

Haven't been able to connect since 26/05/2011

Hi, are you using the latest version of firmware on the Belkin? Do you have UPnP enabled?

Just checked again

Firmware is up to date and UPnP is enabled

Still can't connect today

Can you try direct to the modem? You will have to power the modem down before you switch it across to the Xbox

Got exactly the same problem.  Service stopped on 26 May 2011.  Got a Belkin Router and ISP is Virgin Media.  Spoken to Virgin who couldn't help.  Spent whole weekend trying to sort this out - please post if you find the answer!!

Virgin Media do have issues at the moment (and have for weeks) with Xbox live but I would at least expect you to be able to connect, how about you have you tried direct to the modem as a test?

Don't have a modem Belkin is a modem with combined router, it's worked for 3 years so I highly doubt it's that causing the problem

Sorry yeah didn't realise you were on Virgin's DSL service. Can you try this,  its for a Belkin N but the same applies:- www.unofficialguidetolive.co.uk/.../62-my-nat-is-strict-or-moderate

 

If that doesn't work I'd contact Virgin as its more likely to be an issue with them

I've already tried that, NAT was still open day before it went off

After working for 3 years? It must either be Virgin Media or Xbox Live nothing wrong with the hardware

I would take it up with Virgin for sure. They do have issues with live but not like what you are describing but I guess they could be linked:- community.virginmedia.com/.../Gaming
