How far away are you from your router?  Do you know how strong of a signal your xbox is receiving?  It really sounds like you are having a problem with your wireless signal if you are able to connect sometimes and then it loses signal.  If you have any more details it would really help with diagnosing your issue.

It just happened today, I've never had any trouble connecting before. And resetting my modem and router fixed it temporarily, but I just recently got disconnected again, and my Xbox can connect to the internet, the only problem comes when trying to connect specifically to Xbox live

I haven't been able to connect to xbl since 2p est here. I have seen the service issue warning, but it says xbl is up, and the only thing down is the marketplace. I don't know exactly what the issues are, but its not just the marketplace like the service status says. Its quite annoying.

have you tried connecting your 360 directly to your modem?  Have there been any changes to your network recently?

If you're disconnecting while directly connected to your modem, there is either a problem with your modem or your ISP.  If not, then it's in your network.

Like botmann said, you should try using a hardwire connection to eliminate your modem or ISP as the problem.

I am having the exact same problem you are, and I'm only a state away. I'm right next to my wireless router, too.
