Cannot connect to Xbox Live due to unavailability of an update!

For some reason I cannot connect to Xbox Live.  It was working perfectly well, but when I went to sign back in after an hour break the following message appeared: 'A SYSTEM UPDATE IS REQUIRED TO SIGN IN TO XBOX LIVE, BUT THE UPDATE IS CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE.  IF THE PROBLEM PERSISTS, VISIT  WWW.XBOX.COM/SUPPORT' I am using a wired connection and when I test the network connection it connects all the way through to the Internet but fails at Xbox Live and then reports the above message.

This has now persisted for 24 hours and I am now looking for answers from your team.  I have cleared down the cache but other than that I am mystified.  It went from working to not working within an hour!

That is very strange.  There are a couple of things you can try here.

1.  Power cycle the modem/router by unplugging for 5 seconds.

2.  Follow the instructions at the link below to download the update and apply it to your console.

However, if you are in the preview program then you should post there for more assistance.
