Cannot connect to router and many other problems

Okay, so I've recently bought an XBOX and the console worked fine while testing at a friends house, but I'm having immense trouble getting this thing running at my own.

The problem is with the wireless connection. The only word I can use to explain it is BIPOLAR. It worked before but now it doesn't. It's very weird.

I'll try to explain this in chronological steps

1) Working perfectly fine

2) XBOX Can't connect, I check settings and apparently my WiFi cannot be found yet it catches my neighbors. Other devices work fine.

3) I reset router and nothing has changed. I then did a full factory reset, still nothing.

4) I changed the channel for the Wireless and it was finally able to find the network. But now I couldn't connect to it (Stops at XBOX -> Dlink)

5) I try to add the XBOX to the DHCP reservations list, leads to "invalid mac-address" problem.

6) Find a work around online and add it via Javascript, the XBOX is added yet I still cannot connect.

I don't know what else to try, I've been stuck on this for hours and it's 2:14 AM. I'm tired of it and I need help. Please and thank you.

I literally just ran the test for the network and it went all the way, everything worked fine. I ran it once more and then it didn't get past connecting to router. I'm so confused

Sorry for posting three times in a row but I ran a test and it worked again, so I tried to connect to live and everything went through. I saw my friends and I'm pretty sure I would have been able to play online. But when I turned off the console and turned it back on, it didn't work again.

I've now tried opening my NAT, that wasn't any help. Still having the issue

Hi,

Please ensure the Dlink firmware is the very latest (check the Dlink website) how far away is the Xbox from the router, it could be a distance issue?

I've tried updating my router but it won't let me. The download link isn't available on the DLINK website.

OMG THANK YOU. The unofficial guide helped me solve the issue. Apparently it was my Turtle Beach Headset that was *** something up. Appreciate it, I would have never solved it otherwise

You can get a USB A-Male-to-A-Female extension cable up to 5 metres / 16' long (or longer if you put a USB Powered Hub between the cables) to put that Turtle Beach transceiver far enough away to solve the interference. Examples at www.pccables.com/.../orders6.cgi (and I am not affiliated with that vendor but I do buy their stuff).
