Can't recover account.

Hi,

For some reason, I am unable to recover (this) gamertag on my new Xbox. As soon as I enter in my password I get disconnected from Xbox Live, and if I try again, it says "Xbox LIVE signup is currently unavailable. Please try again later."

Here are the steps I've taken to try and sort this out.

-Delete partially downloaded profile and tried again (many times).
-Tried to recover to a memory unit (same result).
-Login to Xbox.com to see if there is anything wrong with my account (there isn't).
-Contacted Xbox Support, who after an hour of trying basically the above steps, admitted they were unable to help me.

Why is my account broken? I have a heap of licences I want to transfer to my new Xbox but am unable to do so. 
(for reference, I sold my old Xbox about a year ago, and formatted the HDD before I sold it).

Have you tried recovering to another console, preferably on a different network? If that is successful, you can move it to a memory device and bring it back to your console. Also, if this does work, there may be something wrong with your network connection that is preventing downloads from the LIVE servers.

Hi,

I don't have another Xbox to test this out on. This is a relatively new Xbox, and I'm using an alternative account, with everything network related working fine, downloading games, playing online, chatting with friends etc.

This is a problem at Microsoft's end. The account was created in NZ and I now live in the UK if that makes any difference.

Did you have a subscription that ended due to an expired credit card by chance?

No I had to ring up and cancel my Xbox Live account manually before I left NZ. The GT hasn't been disabled AFAIK. The credit card listed in MS Billing is still listed as "Good"

Alright, are you able to remove the credit card on your account? I'm thinking the out of country CC is causing issues, as it wouldn't be able to be used in NZ anyway.

Hi,

I removed the credit card from my account, so I had 'You do not have any payment options on file.' Turned on my Xbox and tried again to recover the account, only to again be disconnected from Xbox Live as soon as it tried to download my profile.

Having read the posts, I'm wondering why, if you live in the UK now, why you don't just create a new UK account. Trying to use your old NZ account in the UK will most likely result in future issues with the marketplace, downloads, and purchases.

That said, I think it would help to try recovering on another console. Also, can other account recover on your console properly?

Hi,

I have created another account, it's so far, my only choice. What I'm upset about is the licences to many arcade games that I am now not only unable to access, unable to play, and unable to transfer to my new account.

If I had another console, I would try that, believe me. Unfortunately I do not have access to another console, only this rather new shiny one I recently purchased.
