Can't format USB

I bought a USB a couple of years ago and formatted it to my XBOX 360 right away. It worked perfectly fine up until the update came out. That's when I lost one or two gamesaves. I decided to try unconfiguring it and then formatting it again, to resolve the issue. But now I cannot format it to my XBOX anymore.

The device is a :

Lexar: JD Firefly

4GB

I'm trying to format it to my XBOX again, but keep recieving the error : "Can't Perform Action: There was a problem performing that action"

I don't think the problem is with the USB, because it did work for one or two years perfectly.

I would attempt to format a different USB drive and see if the issue persists.  If it does not persist, then you just will not be able to use that particular USB drive with your Xbox

Try formatting it on your computer beforehand (if you have access to one) to see if it'll go through on that.

After doing that, then try on the Xbox 360, if not it may be corrupted.

Hey, may. Two years may be enough to let anything happen to this tiny piece of card. Possibly it is corrupted. Otherwise there might be some buffers left behind your system. See this article fix usb cannot format error for the step by step repair solution. Very informative!

It's kinda funny, how everyone completely ignores the fact he says, "After update." I think the update has likely corrupted files, for the system and any devices connected to it. I noticed myself my console is confusing Game CD's with Marketplace content, deleted it all and now just gives unrecognized disc error. Is their a way to roll back the update to a more stable version. I rather play on a console that works.

Hi, try clearing your Xbox 360 system cache and, if it lets you clear your USB cache.
