Can't Connect To Xbox Live

So I went off of my xbox for a while but with Skyrim coming out soon I wanted to start getting back into my xbox. Now the xbox it self works but the wireless adapter on the back has a solid red light and whenever I try to test internet connection my xbox can't connect to my network. It was working just fine before I stopped using my xbox so I don't understand why it stoped working now. I've tried doing most of the things that the website suggests: resetting the modem, going to configure network and doing factory reset, etc. but none of it worked. The one thing that could be a problem, but I don't really know what it means, is under my account and under Xbox LIVE status the current status is just one big red bar that says SERVICE ALERT so I have no idea what to do at this point, an answer ASAP would be appreciated a lot, thanks!

Have you tried unplugging the adapter from the xbox and reseatting it? If it fails in the front, try it in the back, and visa versa.

Could just need to be reseatted, could be an issue of the USB port bad, or the adapter may be bad. Trying these steps will eliminate what may be going wrong.

Hey thanks for the idea, unfortunately I tried that and it didn't work. How would the adapter be bad, do I maybe need to get a new one?

So is the red light still on the adapter after trying reseatting it and then switching USB ports?

If so, it very well be bad, but I am not a hardware specialist by any means. Try contacting xbox tech support's HW department, and if they can't do any more troubleshooting than what you've done, you very well may need a new wireless adapter.

Make sure you select that it's a hardware issue, not a connection issue. Otherwise you'll go through a lot of troubleshooting I already had you do, and they would need to then transfer you to hardware.
