Hi This guy BOOM!

Model 5, HW Identifier: YN3720 also known as, Arris TG862G (Xfinity firmware) has been reported that users with Xbox 360 Slim internal network adapter N are unable to communicate with this router with any form of wireless security. However, this solution I'm about to give you is not in any way official, but it has been proven to work for some with the same issue as you.

Open up a web browser and in the address bar type: 10.0.0.1
Username: admin
Password: password

  1. Click connections tab, then WiFi.
  2. Click edit button.
  3. Change channel to manual and choose channel 1.
  4. Click save and reboot.
  5. Turn on the xbox and go to System Settings, then Network Settings.
  6. Select on Advanced Options.
  7. Select Specify Unlisted Network.
  8. Enter your wireless network name (SSID).
  9. Select WPA as your wireless security.
  10. Enter your wireless network password and select Done.

Post back and let us know if you were helped by this.

I actually changed the channel to manual and channel 11, because I seen it fix someone else's issue. After playing offline for a bit when I went back to the dashboard i was logged in to live. I'm sure I will have this problem again and I will try the above actions. Hope it will be a permanent fix

Ok, with the channel set to 11 it is still a coin toss whether I am online when logging in. It seems the longer the xbox is on the better chance I can connect to the network. It still will randomly disconnect me in the middle of games, I am able to get right back on but this will not do. I am trying the setup you mentioned above. I will report if I can find this post again.

Unplug the Arris, and carry it in to your Comcast Service Center.

Hold it out at arm's length between two fingers, and explain to the floor clerk

"I have an Xbox and I want a..."

a) "... Motorola SBG6580" unless you use Comcast for a telephone connection in which case you ask for
b) "... SMC SMCD3GNV."

That's the best suggestion to offer ANY Xbox user stuck with an Arris TG862 or TG852 on Comcast. See http://tinyurl.com/bad4xbox for more.
