Can't connect to Live at college

I'm trying to connect to Xbox live in my dorm room using an ethernet cable.  I've registered my 360 through the school so I should be getting a connection.  But whenever I test my connection, my 360 fails to connect with the network.  When I press More Info, it says that it cannot find an IP address even though when I go to Configue Network, there is an IP address.  Any ideas?  Thanks

This might help you connect to your college network. Give it a try and let me know if it helps.

On your computer

  • Click Start > Run > type in "cmd" > OK.
  • Type "ipconfig /all"
  • Look for the "Physical Address" under "Local Area Connection". (ex. 11-22-33-44-55-66)

On your Xbox 360 console, go to:

  • System Settings > Network > [choose network] > Configure > Additional Settings > Advanced Settings > Alternate MAC Address
  • Enter the Physical Address here, no dashes
  • Select "Done" on any remaining prompts
  • Select "Done"
  • Select "Test Xbox Live"
