I have tried almost all the trouble shooting steps listed at www.xbox.com/networkhelp. I made an Ip address for the xbox. I turned the router on and off. I get internet on my laptop. WPA2- personal is the type of password I use but the xbox just has a WPA2. I couldn't figure out how to add a mac address though. I need help. I really want to go on xbox live wireless with my gears of war xbox.

Are you able to connect via a wired connection, just to test? That will help us narrow it down to a network issue or a wider issues.

I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but when I look up wireless connection status with my laptop it says pv6 no internet access. I think it might have something to do with why the xbox won't connect to the wireless.

When I connect it to wired, it has a connection warning. "You can connect to Xbox LIVE, but your current network configuration may limit your online experience, Select More Info for a description of the problem and how you can fix it. Your NAT type is Moderate, People on networks with this NAT type may not be able to join certain games or hear other people while playing onliine. For the best online experience, you need an open NAT configuration."

It's just one problem after another. D:

I had a ton of problems when I first tried connecting to Xbox Live. So many that I was even considering just taking the Xbox back--Live is the only great thing about Xbox.

What I suggest is checking your router. Some routers work better than others, so search for one that fits Xbox's settings and buy it. Trust me, it will save a ton of time trying to fix the problems.

The NAT issue is different - that means you need to set up Port Forwarding in order to allow your Xbox to communicate with LIVE more freely. Just to see if we can't get your Xbox up and running, I need some help in clarifying some things. You mentioned that you added an IP address for the Xbox , which would be a Static IP. Did you add this to your router, or did you input it on your Xbox? If on the router, were you able to find the MAC address of the Xbox? If not, you can find it by navigating the Xbox to System Settings, then Network Settings; Choose the network you are connecting to, then select "Configure Network." Scroll right to Additional Setting, then select Advanced Settings. Your console's MAC address is shown on the screen.

I added the IP address on the xbox itself. I found the MAC address for the xbox but I don't know how to add that to the router. I don't know how to set up Port Forwarding.

Alright, I can help walk you through adding the static IP, as well as port forwarding. However, I do need to know the model of your router. You mentioned it was an Actiontec. Could you provide that model number? I'll look up the instructions for you and we can walk through it :)

Are you still wanting to connect via wireless? If so I would get that resolved before looking at NAT.

When you try to connect to your Actiontec I assume it can see the network but can't connect and gives ip address failed. Which adapter are you using the white, black or internal wireless adapter of the Xbox 360S ?
