Your console is connected to the Internet but can't connect to Xbox Live.

Your router or ISP may be blocking access to Xbox Live

On your PC, go to your router configuration webpage and make sure port 3074 is open on your fire wall. If it is open, it may be blocked outside your home network. Contact your ISP

If you're not familiar with networking, you can get help with firewall ports at www.xbox.com/networkhelp.

OK, I have gone through the Xbox tutorial and it is not helped in the slightest. I have done all the steps probably 3 times just to make sure. Here is the mystery, my son left three months during the summer to spend it with his mother, before that it worked fine. I even talked him into letting his gold membership expire till he came back. I have since been messing with this thing on and off for a month tiring to connect to LIVE, so you could reactivate his membership.

Here is what I have checked and done over and beyond what Xbox suggest

  1. Manually updated the xbox via flash drive
  2. checked to make sure my DHCP router setting is enabled and the xbox is set to automatic
  3. reset all Network configurations in xbox to factory settings
I know this is something stupid and simple any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, I have even tried to connect via my "free account" with no luck through the xbox. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated before I take an ax to the thing.

Welcome to the forum Feeblesugar90. I see that you have some experience in dealing with router settings So i'm going to lead you to a site that can open all required ports and assign a static IP to your xbox.

portforward.com/.../Xbox_Live_360.htm

cheers

@FeebleSugar90 Try running a ethernet cable to your Xbox from your modem directly using the hard wire side and see if you can connect that way, but be sure to restart your modem before connecting it via the ethernet cable (Cat5). Once you have restarted your modem and it has booted back up, start up the Xbox console and see if you can connect. If you can connect, then it is clearly the router causing your issues.

I have done this once but I fail to see how 3 months of down time would effect it. The Xbox ran fine for 6 months on wireless.  I will try it again. Just a little back drop for everyone, I am a professional cable installer for Cat5e and above. I have even messed with a little fiber once in a while.

Again I appreciate the reply and I am a firm believer if test, test again, test again, and then let some one else test it for you. I can not tell you the times I have double punched pairs and a panel and looked over it again and again...

Did you try the link I posted? I've seen issues with that router setup many times and that has fixed it

I looked over it, I really do not want to roll back my firmware but if I must I must. I am going to try to assign it a static IP address first and see what that does. If not I guess I am going with rolling back the firmware and reset the router.

Everything else has been checked and rechecked. I appreciate any further advice and I will get back to you guys Sunday and let you know how it went.

Thanks

Teveler

If you can connect to the internet but not live... and you have forwarded your ports like portforward.com has shown you then I would call your ISP. simple as that. if you have internet and your console isn't banned... then it's ports.. if its not ports... then it's your isp hatin.

Hey Stylish - this is unrelated to the topic of this thread, could you start your own thread after reading the Start Here sticky ( forums.xbox.com/.../155724.aspx ) so that we can best help you, as well as the OP here? Thanks :)
