Can connect to network, but not internet?

This connection problem seems to have been the cause of the most recent update and I canot seem to get around it. I can connect easily to my home netwirk but can not when trying to connect outside my house. Is there anyway to fix this problem or do I have to wait till a new update? I am on vacatiin for the week and  it will be a great disappointment if I am without live for this time.

Can you help me understand your question? Are you trying to connect to wifi outside of your house, such as another network?

In that case, you can follow these steps from our connection page:

"Configure your wireless settings

Press the Guide button on your controller, go to Settings, and then select System Settings.

Select Network Settings.

Select the name of your wireless network.

Note If you do not see your wireless network, select Advanced Options. Then, select Specify Unlisted Network, and enter your wireless network name. Next, you are prompted to choose the security type.

Enter your wireless network password. How to find your wireless network password.

Select Yes if you are prompted to update your console software."

I can connect to my home network which is secured by a pass code. When I go to a friend's house or like I am now, on vacation, I cannot connect to the internet. It always me to connect to the network though. Is it  something in my preferences for my account that is restricting me from being able to connect to the internet?

Hi,

There won't be a restriction no, its more likely that your friends network will need some extra configuration to be able to connect. Are the Xbox live ports open on your friends router?

And post back your details in full (the bits that are in bold on that post) so that people may help

If you are wireless can you also state whether you are using the white or black external adapter or the Xbox 360S Internal adapter
