call of duty mw3 just keeps searching

i am new to xbox live. just signed up yesterday. the xbox has been a dust collector since christmas, but i signed up for xbox live to play mw3 online. however it cant find a game to put me in. it just searches and searches. i can play other games online but not my call of duty games. can anyone help me?

Since the TastefulCurve69 gamertag does not have Xbox LIVE Gold and you need that to play on line, I am sure you have another profile you are using for online play, right?

 

As to why you can't get a match, well, the lag time in connecting to other folks is the problem.  If the accumulated lag time of all players exceeds what's permissible, you can't get a game. That's not the download or upload speed, but you can see it at speedtest.net as the 'ping' result.

 

A sequential power cycle is the first step in clearing connection problems, and the order and timing of the steps is important to success:

 

1) turn off the Xbox and unplug the power supply cord from the back of the Xbox then

2) unplug power from the router (Some folks have a combination modem-router AKA 'gateway' or only use a modem with no router. If either, skip steps 3 & 6).

3) unplug power from the modem.

4) Wait at least 5 minutes then replug the modem/gateway power.

5) Wait 'til the light on the front of the modem/gateway which says BROADBAND, ONLINE, READY, CABLE or DSL is on solid (not flashing), then plug in the router. If you have a gateway instead of a modem and router or a modem with no router, then when that light says it's ready, skip to step 7.

6) Wait until the WiFi light on the router is on; you may or may not use WiFi, but it's still a good indicator your router is finished booting up.

7) Plug in and turn on the Xbox.  For more background on Ports, see whatismyipaddress.com/port

waiting for 7 more players 0/50 good games it runs through the % and back to waiting for 7 more players . never finds anyone either

and sometimes it says error signing in but i do it again and i connect to xbox live, it fetches my online profile but it still wont find a match for me to join.

but it doesnt say that all the time, it usually just keeps searching. i let it search for 30+ minutes last night

it says that the game server is down and tells me to check www.callofduty.com/status but when i  check it it says everything is working normally. a friend of mine was playing on his (he lives an hour away) and it was working for him. like i said all my other games it works fine on but for call of duty black ops and mw3 it isnt working
