Buying one-month subscription with the MS points/local currency already on my account

My Gold expired last week, and my budget isn't allowing my to throw down $60 at the moment. In the dashboard, I'm getting this huge prompt to buy a year subscription. I click on it, and I see it can use money I have on my account. I only have $14, though, and there doesn't seem to be any option to purchase a one-month subscription. There is on the Xbox website. I can get a one-month subscription for $10. But the money I have on my account isn't showing up. It wants a credit card or PayPal. Is there a way to get this to work?

Bugger. Looks like I'm going to have to scrounge up $25 to get one of those three-month cards from Gamestop or something.
