broken tray on 360 slim

The tray on the xbox 360 slim is broken. Wont open or close.

I think the toddler managed to press on it when it was open and its banjaxed.

What should i expect to pay to have it repaired?

Is it a big job?

If the console is under 12 months old the repair is free. Over that however and it'll cost £62 or $99 if you arrange the repair over the internet. £75 or $119 if you arrange the repair over the phone.

You can find out how here http://support.xbox.com/en-gb/pages/xbox-360/troubleshoot/repair/repair-process.aspx

http://support.xbox.com/en-us/pages/xbox-360/troubleshoot/repair/repair-process.aspx

Those are of course for the UK and US, prices will differ in other parts of the world.

Edit: If it is under 12 months old, then you could try returning it to the retailer for an exchange. I wouldn't mention the toddler part of the story though.

Thank you, but i failed to mention that i have tried to fix the tray myself and have broken the 'seal'.

I will have to bite the bullet and pay the repair bill myself.

Thanks for the help though.

it is my understanding that if the seal has been broken or tampered with, MS wil not even look at it.

That is correct. If the seal is broken, it means that the warranty is voided. Microsoft will not repair it.

Hey there crazy ops 78! It depends on where you live, and where they need to ship to! Most repairs take just a few weeks. If you're in a hurry to get back to gaming though you can always pay for expedited shipping! :)
