Brand New Xbox 360 S won't update

I just brought my brand new kinetic bundle Xbox 360 slim and I'm trying to update it but every time I try to update it, it starts to download it but then the bar doesn't move. After about 2 minutes of it doing nothing it will give me an error saying cannot update console. I'be tried formatting and clearing cache. It did nothing. How can I fix this problem? I literally bought this today. BTW I'm trying to do the bing dashboard mandatory update. I'm using an Ethernet cable for connection.

Try resetting your router and any other network equipment in the path between the 360 and the final piece of equipment in the house (usually a cablemodem or a DSL router). See if that helps.

You can do a manual update via USB or CD/DVD, but I'd be concerned that any file you download at the moment may be corrupted.

Didn't help, I'm going to take my Xbox back to Walmart tomorrow and see what I can do. BTW it works fine with my Xbox 360 ELITE

Ahh... two consoles on one router?

Try putting the new console in the DMZ of your router.

It'll depend on the router as to whether or not that will work, though since you power-cycled it that should have cleared out anything that was being automaically configured.

Sounds more like a network issue than Microsoft.

Try a USB or CD/DVD update. Once updated, see if you can stream something.

At the moment I don't have ausb with enough space. Why would they make people go through this? It's not the network. I have the update on another xbox that downloaded just fine.
At the moment I don't have ausb with enough space
The update's around 110MB. You can't free up 110MB of space on a USB FAT32 storage device?
Why would they make people go through this?
"They" wouldn't.
It's not the network.
Giving the widely varying home network configurations out there, that's unlikely.
I have the update on another xbox that downloaded just fine.
I don't doubt that.
