Auto Renewal

Sorry, I know there's a sticky on this but I really don't want to ring Microsoft and I was wondering is it possible that I can just email them to turn off the Gold auto renewal? And why does it say it can be changed  in my account in the how to section when it actually can't?

The only way turn off auto renewal is to contact a Xbox Phone Support Agent directly over the phone.

Why is there an area of Xbox.com that let's you turn off automatic renewal if it doesn't work? It's on the main section of the My Account page. Automatic Renewal: On (Change).

You click Change, have the option to turn it off and then it says "An error occurred cancelling automatic renewal."

Nothing on that page says you need to phone Microsoft to turn it off.

That's what I'd like to know. I don't even have the "Change" link on my account but it says that's how you turn it off right here: support.xbox.com/.../cancel-account

Looks like I'm gonna have to ring Microsft either way which sucks. I don't see why it's such a big deal that the only way you can turn it off is to ring them.

I'm not quite sure why that is there.  I think you used to be able to turn it off that way, but I'm not 100% feel free to ask the phone support agent when you call to cancel auto renewal, or wait for someone else to answer it on here.  Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

It used to take you to a screen saying "Call Xbox to cancel", that Automatic Renewal option has only been there for about 6 months or so IIRC.
